How many more women must die?

A line we must draw

Every woman killed leaves a family and community changed forever. A name becomes a headline. The country mourns, condemns, and too often returns to normal. Femicide cannot become normal.

Women have spoken about the danger they face. Women’s organisations and survivors have carried this work for years. They should not have to carry it alone.

Men must speak to men

We are men speaking to men. We are not speaking for women. We are standing with women.

When a friend threatens his partner, friendship is no reason to be silent. When a relative abuses a woman, family loyalty cannot protect him from accountability. When men dismiss consent or make misogyny into a joke, other men must challenge them.

There can be no brotherhood that protects brutality.

No gender war

This is not a campaign against men. Not every man is a perpetrator. It is a call for men to take responsibility for the influence we have in our homes, friendships, workplaces and communities.

Respecting women is a starting point. Men must also listen to survivors, support the work already being done, and refuse to excuse violence. Accountability belongs alongside due process and the law.
